MEET TERESA

Teresa Boeve, Pilates Principles owner, is a Level IV Romana’s Pilates teacher with over 20 years of experience. While she is highly disciplined in Pilates, Teresa will forever see herself as a student of the work. She is always working to improve her skills by studying and taking classes with Master teachers as often as possible. Understanding that nothing exists in isolation, her hope is that by guiding and educating people to become more aware of their body’s potential and power, the work will positively affect their overall well-being.

Teresa was certified as a Pilates instructor in 2001, completing a rigorous program led by Romana Kryzanowska, a protégé of Joseph Pilates.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Teresa moved to Florida where she began working in a local hospital as a rehabilitation aide to pursue a career as a physical therapist. During that time, she discovered the body conditioning method of Pilates. Teresa found Pilates to be a fun and refreshing alternative to her usual running and weightlifting exercise programs. Teresa completed the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) program in 2017 and IIN’s Gut Health program in 2019.

The introduction of Pilates into Teresa’s life not only shifted her career goals, but also evolved her mind-body connection and physical well-being. Teresa’s first-hand experience with the Pilates method’s ability to transform and heal the body confirmed her decision to become a Pilates teacher. Teresa believes that the opportunity she has been given to pass on Joseph Pilates’ work, as taught by Master teacher Romana Kryzanowska, is a true privilege and honor.

``One of my favorite things about the work is that the transformation and learning never stops. Pilates is intelligent exercise that gives us tools to tap into our bodies innate wisdom. It deepens our awareness to shift unwanted patterns, giving us power and ease in our bodies as opposed to being at its mercy. The work is uplifting for the mind, body and spirit!``

DISCOVER PILATES

STRENGTH • STRETCH • CONTROL

The Pilates method, when taught by a properly trained instructor, goes beyond an exercise routine. By utilizing the mind for control, as opposed to unconscious movements that work only a “pet set” of muscles, Pilates trains the body to shift out of old patterns. It works as a system connecting movement to a stable center, building powerful, flexible muscles and spine, allowing for greater efficiency and ease of movement.
